Concentrated talent to take your company forward

VestasColorado has the fourth-highest concentration of cleantech workers in the United States with more than 1,500 clean-energy companies employing 18,000 workers throughout the state.

The number of cleantech businesses has grown 18 percent since 2004, making it Colorado’s fastest-growing industry sector.

Leading this job growth is global cleantech giant Vestas, which will create 2,500 jobs in the state at four new manufacturing plants. In 2010, SMA Solar Technology opened its first manufacturing plant outside of Germany in Denver, employing 300 people initially. In April 2011, SMA leased a second facility, an 148,902-square-foot building. SMA anticipates employing as many as 700 people initially at both sites.

Our employment outlook is even brighter. ConocoPhillips will employ as many as 7,000 employees at its new Global Research and Technology Center in Louisville, which is set to being operations in 2013.

The average annual salary for a cleantech worker in Colorado is $75,240 compared to the U.S. average of $70,690 (2009). Colorado payroll in the cleantech subcluster exceeded $1.3 billion in 2009. See the Bureau of Labor Statistics website for detailed cleantech wage data in Colorado.
