Vestas receives two more orders totaling 149 megawatts

With reference to Vestas Wind Systems A/S' company announcement No. 49/2010 of 21 December 2010, Vestas has received a 99 MW order for 55 V100-1.8 MW turbines for a wind-energy project in British Columbia, Canada.

The contract includes delivery and commissioning along with a 10-year service and maintenance agreement. Delivery is scheduled for mid-2012 and commissioning is expected in late 2012.

Vestas' production facilities in Colorado, USA, will manufacture the main components of the turbines for this order. The blades will be made in Windsor, towers in Pueblo and nacelles assembled in Brighton. Vestas has about 1,500 manufacturing employees in Colorado.

Six Vestas customers have ordered V100-1.8 MW turbines in the last six months for projects in the United States and Canada. This is the fifth order announced for wind projects in Canada in 2010.

Vestas has received a 50.4 MW order for 28 V100-1.8 MW wind turbines from Element Power for the first phase of the 99 MW Macho Springs Wind Energy Project in Luna County, New Mexico, USA.  

The contract includes delivery and commissioning along with a 10-year turbine service and maintenance agreement. Delivery is scheduled for early 2011 and commissioning is expected in mid-2011.

Element Power has an option to purchase an additional 27 V100-1.8 MW wind turbines for the second phase of the project, which is targeted to proceed as early as next year.

This order marks Vestas' 14th North American deal announced in 2010, totaling 1,784 MW among four turbine types. Five Vestas customers have ordered V100-1.8 MW turbines in the last six months for projects in the United States and Canada.
