NREL announces 2011 Energy Execs class

The U.S. Department of Energy's National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) has selected 20 national leaders to participate in its 2011 Executive Energy Leadership program (Energy Execs), a premier leadership program focused on delivering clean energy solutions.

The five-month program gives executive decision-makers throughout the United States an in-depth look at renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies. Briefings by NREL technology experts, research laboratory tours and visits to field applications are part of the classroom experience. 

"As the nation addresses important energy issues, it is imperative that our business, community and government leaders understand the implications of their decisions and demonstrate leadership for the long-term clean energy economy," said NREL Director Dr. Dan E. Arvizu. "NREL is dedicated to preparing national leaders to serve as change-agents for the clean energy future."

At the conclusion of the program, participants present a viable project on a clean energy application.

Since its inception, more than 80 representatives of industry, local government and non-profit organizations completed the Energy Execs program.

This year an exceptional number of strong applicants have prompted the launch of the Energy Execs Institute, which will provide a three-day program for an additional 25 participants.
