Gov. Ritter to attend Denmark's World Climate Solutions 2010
On 29 and 30 September, northern Europe's biggest annual cleantech event - World Climate Solutions - will take place at Bella Center in Copenhagen, the same venue that staged the colossal COP15 event in December last year.World Climate Solutions 2010 will put special focus on showing what municipalities and corporations are doing to create cleaner and more liveable urban areas.
The event will also form a backdrop to the Climate Commission's long-awaited report on how Denmark can free itself of dependence on fossil fuels.
Among the high profile attendees of World Climate Solutions 2010 are the London School of Economics professor Lord Anthony Giddens, the Director General of the Beijing Environmental Protection Bureau Chen Tian, the European Commissioner for Climate Action Connie Hedegaard, Major of Toronto and chairman of the C40 Cities David Millar, the chairman of the Republic of Korea's Presidential Committee on Green Growth Soogil Young, and last but by no means least the Governor of the State of Colorado, Bill Ritter.
The Centennial State has particular significance for one Danish company, namely the wind turbine manufacturer Vestas which employs more than 1,000 people at its three Colorado factories: a blade factory in upstate Windsor, a nacelle factory in Brighton, and a tower factory in the steel town of Pueblo - the latter being Vestas' biggest investment in the company's history.
During his tenure, Governor Ritter has pursued a clear aim of making Colorado both a national and international leader in building a New Energy Economy in order to create new jobs and attract new companies to the state.
